@Emma--I hope you got a photo of the frogs--that would be great to see. I saw a coyote when I was at Mt. Diablo, but is scurried away before I could get a photo.
While driving around the marine mammal center after the rains, I saw that the road was full of frogs. Saw a coyote on the side of the rode.
@Emma: wow! Would love to see a swarm of butterflies! Definitely keep me posted on the creeks and streams. Would love to see cranes and storks!
The butterflies I have seen so far are the Vanessa and the monarch. I heard that the La Fayette reservoir has some other varieties. I saw the red admiral once near Pixie Land but it flew away. i remember seeing thousands and thousands of butterflies at Crater lake. they would just swarm all over the car and were all over the wind shield. i don't remember the species though. That was about 5 years ago. Never took pics! i trained here and that brought out some snails . Stepped on one . Feel miserable about it!! if we get good rains , i will let you know how the creeks are doing here. The rains are supposed to bring in cranes and storks. Will see.
@Emma: it was at the top of the gardens near the Old Rose Garden. That is where I spent most of my time last summer looking for butterflies.
The gardens are fairly big. Did not see this section!
