Description:

A medium size falcon with distinctive markings on its head and a heavily streaked chest.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

It's a wonderful spotting. I see birds of prey quite often, but I'm definitely the slow one. Half the time I don't even bother to try and photograph them, or if I do, it's just a dot :-/
Thanks so much Neil. I missed an amazing shot with this bird. If you look at the 3rd pic you can see something at the top of the picture that is barely showing. That is its mate that swooped down to it. Then the two of them flew off together. I just couldn't get me and my camera to react fast enough. Maybe next time! Cheers Neil!
