Field Notes

Description:

A large green-colored damselfly resting on a leaf. Thin and long, 30 - 40 mm in length. It is from the Vestalis genus where the metallic green exoskeleton and purple sparkling wings are the distinctive characteristics of this type of damselfly. Most Vestalis species can only thrive in healthy forests area. This damselfly will choose it's favorite leaf to perch on and will fly away when disturbed and then return to the same spot to continue it's rest. Some possible species for it Vestalis amoena, V. amaryllis, V. amnicola, and V. anacolosa.

Habitat:

Around jungle plants in Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary close to water bodies, Sandakan, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 1000 m diameter. My father tried to capture it but failed every time due to it's extreme sensitivity to movements nearby.
