Description:

Psathyrella pennata is a species of fungi that is found in burnt soil. When young they are often covered in tomentum.

Habitat:

Spotted under tall fir trees in soil. Leaf litter

What a wonderful spotting, Brian38! I'm just going to make a wild guess, but perhaps these fungi are Psathyrella species. Just going by their appearance they seem to look a lot like Psathyrella pennata. I have been searching for a match for you.....but, I am failing! Cannot find one single mushroom that even looks close... I hope somebody can ID it.
