Field Notes

Description:

18mm long, 28mm wide, grey with intricate patterns especially on abdomen, lies very low to surface; 3 pairs of legs often set together; large abdomen (female?); very prominent fangs downward pointing; two rows of four eyes. very large shiny palps!.

Habitat:

Seems happy at the base of a palm frond. Non-indigenous palm. Suburban fringe verging on dry sclerophyll eucalyptus forest.

Notes:

ID to check for huntsmans.... Sparassidae?

Is this one of our huntsman spiders? That is my guess. Those eyes look creepy.
