Description:

A really hairy Scoliid Wasp about 2 cm long, with bright orange and yellow markings. These wasps are solitary parasitoids of Scarab larvae. The antennae are characteristic (2nd picture), as well as the corrugated ends of the wings (best visible in the 3rd picture). This one was settling down to sleep for the night.

Habitat:

Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
