Field Notes

Description:

Brilliant orange/gold/red legs. Sometimes with a burgundy, orange, or red carapace. Some are different colors on different islands - we also saw darker red, black, and even deep purple-blue crabs of the same species.

Habitat:

Skittering around the tidepools and shoreline lava flows of Fernandina Island, Galapagos
