Liam, I agree that the best bet is Greylag X Cananda. Thnx :)
It does have a hooded appearance, but note in my link the Greylag x Canada also shows a hooded face. http://www.flickr.com/groups/hybridbirds/discuss/72157601783914618/
ahha, found the right word. The face has a hooded appearance. http://www.ducks.org/hunting/waterfowl-id/barnacle-goose

Liam compare this link with pic no2, http://www.google.com/imgres?q=barnacle+goose&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1024&bih=677&tbm=isch&tbnid=LMwGO7HQdgXsIM:&imgrefurl= See the patch on the head? the square face?
I can see why you would say Barnacle hybrid, but a Barnacle Goose hybrid would be nearly impossible in California, and I'm not really seeing any definite traits of Barnacle Goose.
Liam, look at the second picture and you will know why I said Barncle.
How about Barnacle x greylag?
Interesting hybrid for sure. My guess would be Canada x Greylag. http://www.flickr.com/groups/hybridbirds/discuss/72157601783914618/
