Field Notes
Description:
A long narrow stemmed mushroom with a brown-grey cap. The stem (about 2" long) was white with a few "hairs" but did not have any frill. There was probably more of the stem below the leaf mulch.
The cap was moist and slightly inward curling. The gills were white and were quite open.
Habitat:
Nature reserve - found on damp grounds under giant pine trees.
Notes:
I did not clear the mulch around the stipe for fear of breaking the narrow stem (stipe). Although narrow, the stipe was not as delicate as those of inkcaps. This mushroom was solitary.
I realise there are some mushroom experts amongst us so, if the ID is not quite right, I would welcome any advice/information.
