Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Bubble Anemone Shrimp, Philippine Shrimp and Anemone Shrimp. This shrimp has a transparent body with purple antennae and purple lines down its body. They feed on parasites, algae and plankton, and grow to a length of about 1.5cm.

Habitat:

Found only on the bubble coral (Plerogyra sinuosa), at depths of 3 to 30m.
Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this shrimp on a small bubble coral at 52 feet. Dive site: San Juan Reef, off the western coast of Samal Island, Davao.
