Field Notes

Description:

This was taken at a turtle hatchery on Tioman island that operated using IUCN protocols. Hatchlings were released at the nearest sunrise or sunset to their emergence, and never kept in a bucket of water, but on damp sand from the nest. Releases happened from the top of the beach (not directly in the water) as far apart as possible to prevent the build up of feeding stations in the adjacent beach.
