I have a fern here we got from a friend many years ago that looks just like this ill upload and notify i a week tell me if its the same

Most likely it's due to to the forestry. There is just about 10% of natural forests left here in Germany. Everything else is already cultivated, economical forest.

Got the ID...it has once been a common fern here but became pretty rare

Thanks, Cindy - it's actually a very rare fern. My Dad is trying to cultivate it currently.
