Bicolored Hawk

Relatively small hawk, usually seen in the canopy of primary and secondary forest, The male measures 36 cm. and weighs 260 grams; the female measures 46 cm. and weighs 400 grams, Bicolor Hawk is a rare or unusual resident species in areas with humid forest, from sea level to 1800 m. of height, approximately, in both slopes. It is absent in the dry forest area of ​​the northwest on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. The one in the picture is a juvenile, we found two juveniles which is common for this species, (in another species usually only one survives) feeding on a bird that was brought by the female, as they still can not hunt by themself .
