Field Notes

Description:

"One of the commonest of true toads in Southeast Asia, it occurs in a variety of habitats in both rural and urban areas. It ranges from Sri Lanka to Southern China, and down through Thailand, West Malaysia and Singapore to western Indonesia and the island of Borneo," but is an invasive in New Guinea. "There is considerable colour variation, but the species is easily identified by the presence of pronounced paratoid glands (a raised ridge behind the eye) and the lines of warts along the back and sides."

Habitat:

Spotted in an outdoor potted plant, in a large semi-urban yard & garden near a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

All of mine from this location could...but I am very close to semi-natural patches so I always say "semi-urban" in my habitat description...kind of urban but really not :-)
This could go in the urban biodiversity mission
Thanks. Well there might be more info on the species across the border in PNG. This spotting is "near" the border, on west half of the island, in Indonesia. :-)
Good set of pics SFrazier. Thanks for the info too. I'll need to read about its effect in PNG. It doesn't look too dissimilar to bufo marinus - maybe a bit lazier looking :).
