Field Notes

Description:

This is how it should look
http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/2107116002
Unfortunately I only notice these little grey buttons on an acacia leaf while checking a photo of the black tooth fungus. There was just one acacia leaf with several of these grey fungi, each about .5 mm wide.

Habitat:

On an acacia leaf (probably A. melanoxylon) which was sodden like the rest of the leaf litter - Long Point Reserve

Notes:

This was an exciting find but a little too late. I thought it best to document it and perhaps search specifically for these on the next visit.
These disc-shaped fungi are on short stalks and have spaced stiff hairs along the rim.
Family : Sclerotiniaceae
