Description:

This beetle has a horn, yellow spots, some red that came out with the flash of my camera. This may be some type of dung beetle. Shot taken at night next to a stree lamp.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 9 weeks into the 6 month dry season.

I don't know enough about Costa Rica's beetles to say for sure. I might be able to find a book to help out, but no guarantees.
latimeria, after inspecting the hi-res fotos I believe that the yellow spots are some kind of fungus. they are indeterimate in size, shape and location. Would it be fair to call this Onthophagus sp.?
I agree, it looks like a dung beetle.
