Habitat:

Mixed oak forest. Some hemlock, maple.

Notes:

I also found other color varieties. Purple, green, and maroon in color. Other species found nearby were hen of the woods and oyster mushrooms up high on the trunks. When the russula's were in full fruit, the deer frequented the area to eat them. The entire area smelled strong of sweet earthy fungus. Was the most amazing year ever
