Field Notes

Habitat:

ornamental in gardens, or wild in disturbed fields, wood edges. Full sun to light shade. Native of Java; now naturalized in other tropical areas including South Florida.

Notes:

Large cluster growing on hammock edge of park. Flowers are attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Can be invasive and spreads easily. The smaller yellow green leaves seen among the plant in the last pic are Air Potato vine which is under attack from a beetle brought into the park to control it.
