Habitat:

Common ID might be European Garden weaver spider.
Because the Nuctenea umbratica (Spaltenkreuzspinne) is often confused with Larinioides ixobolus I wrote an email to "spinnen-forum.de" and they discussed about it and made the decision that its "Larinioides ixobolus"! (http://wiki.spinnen-forum.de/index.php?title=Nuctenea_oder_Larinioides)
udolfo - yes, i think you are absolutely right - it's the Spaltenkreuzspinne... Forget the Bridge Spider
@ Lars: Are you sure? I am not sure, which one it is, because I can´t find the typical "V"- sign of the bridge spider and I can´t find the cross of the garden spider, made out of white dots. I found a third possible spider: "Spaltenkreuzspinne (Nuctenea umbratica)".
