Description:
The Village Weaver is a species of weaver found in most of sub-Saharan Africa. This weaver builds impressive coarsely woven nests made of grass and leaf strips with a downward facing entrance, which can be seen on the second shot.
Habitat:
Woodlands and near human habitations. Spotted here in the Siana Conservancy, near the Masai Mara.
Notes:
Male bird. The extent of the black in the male’s head varies geographically. All races have a mottled black and yellow back. The eye is dark red.
