Field Notes

Habitat:

spotted, or rather stalked! in my garden in Tamil Nadu, India

Notes:

Finally got this butterfly with wings open and closed. I have been trying for a week. Luckily it likes my pumpkin plants, and I always find one resting there.

My garden is just a paradise of butterflies at the moment. So many different kinds, many of which are doing their mating dance. Rather difficult to photograph during this stage. I find myself creeping round the plants, camera in hand, or standing on the spot, turning in circles to keep a particular butterfly in my vision in case it lands. Wonderful!

Hi Argybee, well how about that! I was bought up in Melbourne, near the Caufield Racecourse, and relocated to Tamil Nadu... Small world!
Yes pamsai - east of Melbourne in the Dandenong Ranges. We live in Aus. but have family in Chennai and Kodaikanal so we get to see your part of the world sometimes.
Argybee, where is UFTG. AU, is it in Aussie?
strange... pic#1 moved to first spot while I was typing... :) well done
Well done pamsai! Some great shots too. Patience pays. I would prefer pic #5 as the first one. Hope you let it stay on the pumpkins for a little while. (pic #7 is broken)
