Field Notes

Description:

Female, pale brown body and dark brown back and eyes. The bill is black with a white stripe across the middle. They resemble their relative, the Eurasian Tufted Duck. The male can be seen at my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8658343

Habitat:

Sandy Lake at Kit Carson Park

Notes:

These ducks dive under water and eat aquatic plants. Sometimes they'll eat small insects, fish or molluscs.
