Field Notes

Description:

Arctotheca calendula is a plant commonly known as cape weed, cape dandelion, or cape marigold because it originates from the Cape Province in South Africa.

This little wild daisy is seen growing in lawns and nature strips all around this area. I remember it from my childhood. We used to make daisy chains out of it! Leaves flat to the ground and daisy flowers just above them.

Habitat:

sandy soil in coastal region

Notes:

Listed as an invasive weed in Australia.
