Field Notes

Description:

Upperparts olive-green; dull, buffy-yellow lores and eye-ring; yellow, orange, crimson and black in wings; forked-tail, with black tip and edges; yellow throat, orange-yellow breast diagnostic; scarlet beak
Female - has yellow, instead of crimson in wings.
Red on wings considerably reduced or absent in the western race

Forest undergrowth; bushy hillside; plantations, between 600-2700 m.
