Yes, I think it is the male. If you look to the body next to the tail, there are 2 little black stripes/spots in the middle of the veins. This should be scent scales in the males.
Thank you. I thought it was a monarch. Was a bit doubting whether it was a Viceroy Butterfly. So you think this is a male bayucca?
This is a Monarch. Famous for holding the Guinness record for the worlds greatest migration.
More intense colors and markings speak for the female, but I think it is the male Monarch due to the scent scales.
