Field Notes

Habitat:

Wet Tropics North Queensland. Approximately 1000 meters elevation.

Notes:

Endemic to North East Queensland, occurs on Mt Lewis, Mt Spurgeon, Pinnacle Rock, the Windsor Tableland, Mt Finnigan, Mt Pieter Botte, Thornton Peak, Bell Peak, the Bellenden Ker Range and Mt Bartle Frere. Altitudinal range from 940-1300 m. Grows as an epiphyte in well developed rain forest but also found as a lithophytic shrub on boulders in stunted windswept rain forest on mountain tops

Excellent info and pics. Alice these places are the most undesolate places in Australia. They are the only 'high' lands in tropical Australia and experience massive rainfalls but I'm sure they instil cheer in whoever finds them as they are not common and usually in quite difficult locations. Thanks so much for these shots MacChristiansen.
