Wow that's crazy I had no idea thanks for the ID
Looks similar to H. gardnerianum. The leaves on this plant look narrower but that may rolling in reaction to the weather or it may just be a narrow leaved form. Whatever it is, it's a long way from home and that's quite scary if this is next to a trail in the wild. Several Hedychium species have proven to be very noxious, weeds outside their native habitats, really choking out native vegetation.
