Description:

es un ave rapaz del orden de los Accipitriformes, perteneciente a la familia de los accipítridos (águilas, gavilanes, ratoneros, y milanos, entre otras). Es un ave mediana que habita desde el sudoeste de EE. UU. al sur de Chile y Argentina. Es el único miembro del género Parabuteo (Ridgway, 1874), que literalmente significa "similar a Buteo", mientras que unicinctus significa "una sola cinta", por la banda terminal blanca de su cola.

Habitat:

Podemos encontrarla en Estados Unidos, México, Chile y Argentina, siendo la mayor parte de su población sedentaria.
Prefiere habitar lugares de vegetación no muy alta y anida en árboles ó riscos
