Field Notes

Description:

Fell from tree. Solid, heavy, with clusters. Leaking white resin. Smelled vaguely citrus or like cucumbers.

Habitat:

Seen throughout the united states. It's originally from Texas and arkansas area, but has been widely naturalized throughout the U.S and parts of Canada.

Notes:

Also known as horse apples or hedge apples. : ) it's a small deciduous tree or large shrub and it is dioecious with male and female flowers on different plants.
