Field Notes

Description:

Was not able to get a picture of the underwing; however it was the same dark black as the top of the wing with red and white spotting. This butterfly has gorgeous bright blue spotting along the outter part of the top wing. On the larger side, closer to pipevine swallowtail size.

Habitat:

spotted in west central ga, range is "E Dakotas and NE Colorado to S New England, south to central florida and west to AZ and NM" according to the Audubon Field Guide to NA Butterflies
