Description:
The alligator-of-crop-yellow alligator is a typical South America distributed in the coast of Rio Grande do Norte to Rio Grande do Sul The species inhabits the tropical forests, preferring areas of marshland, with its ponds, lakes and rivers. It is a carnivorous animal that lives about 50 years.
They are known by this name because, during the mating, these animals tend to stay with the area of the yellow chat.
It measures 1.5 m on average between 2.5 m but copies have been captured over 3.5 m. They are characterized by having a strong bite, and can break the shell of a turtle with ease.
These animals tend to feed on crustaceans and small mammals, eventually larger specimens can attack larger prey.
Habitat:
inhabits swamps, lakes, swamps and rivers from the coast of Rio Grande do Norte to Rio Grande do Sul and São Francisco river basin, Paraná, Paraguay and Paraíba.
