Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Strap-weed Leatherjacket, Small-spotted Filefish and Small-spotted Leatherjacket.

They feed on invertebrates and algae, and grow to a length of about 24cm.

Habitat:

Found singly in weed or seagrass beds on reef flats and in lagoons, at depths of 1 to 10m. Widespread in the Asia-Pacific region.

Notes:

I spotted this fish at a depth of about 90 feet.
