and Cindy it is confirmed by Mitch Ray,so you cannot be wrong at all!! Thank you Mitch and a Very Happy New year to you! Nice to see you appear and disappear!!
Hi Emma, I'm glad you agree with my original ID although I'm not sure what happened to my ID suggestion. Great turtle information!
@Cindy,it is a red eared slider after all!!
@ Emma - I would agree with the red-eared slider
Due to the pattern on the plastrons, there is a very high possibility that this is a red eared slider. Would somebody like to confirm this?
thanks for this great info Jared!
Red-Eared Sliders also do not always have red ears either, due to pigmentation issues or as some age, especially the males, they will become almost melanistic, its usally good to look at the plastrons as the Red-Eared Sliders have fairly distinct markins on them. Not saying these guys are Red ears just random info. :P

It looks like a western painted turtle to me as well. There are a couple varieties that look similar.
no worries Cindy! You made the suggestion of painted turtle though ,which I think is helpful! :)
is difficult to tell . That is why i always make a visual inspection and mental note of it before i take a picture. It so happened that a girl beside me was admiring it. I asked her if it could be red eared slider. She too noticed that it did not have red ears. Thanks for you feed back!!
Sorry, it's hard to tell with the pics. It may be a Chrysemys picta bellii - Western Painted Turtle
Cindy,it did not have red ears or any red markings.
