Description:
Turtle with spots on the gray fleshy parts of the skin. Shell has concentric ring patterns in each scute or plate. The Diamond-backed Terrapin is categorized as "Near Threatened" (NT) by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Habitat:
Makes its home in brackish tidal marshes on the East coast.
Notes:
Spotted on Big Talbot Island's Spoonbill Pond, Jacksonville, FL. These turtles have made a huge comeback after mass consumption and over hunting due to conservation efforts.
