Description:

Pelagic Cormorant

Adult
In North America restricted to Pacific Coast.
Slender neck and noticeably thin, dark bill
All black plumage can show iridescent green and purple
Breeding adults have large white flank patch

Habitat:

This bird was heading for a rocky outcropping favored by all three species of West Coast cormorants (Brandts, Pelagic, & Double-crested). It's quite nice to see all three birds species in the same spot.
