Field Notes

Description:

Not-so-wild wild turkey hen about 30 inches length overall.

Habitat:

Montane meadow and coniferous forest ecosystem.

Notes:

Spotted emerging from a meadow adjacent to Aspenglen Campground at Rocky Mountain National Park. It then wandered cautiously around the campground for about 30 minutes, keeping its distance from humans but not taking flight. It eventually wandered back into the meadow and disappeared into the high grass.
