Field Notes

Description:

Large black bird with a bright yellow throat and greenish yellow bill and area around the eyes. The bill also has red, orange and blue areas. The feet are blue and the feathers beneath the tail are red.

Habitat:

These were found in an area that was mixed between forest and pasture.

Notes:

They were in a group of around 12-15 birds

I missed many a good opportunity in the past because I didn't have my camera with me. Now, it's nearly always with me.

Thanks Luis! I've been wanting to get some decent toucan pictures for years now. But where I live they are always very skittish. I was taking a "scenic" route through the mountains because I had some time to kill when this group of toucan started crossing the road one by one. This one seemed a bit curious and perched pretty close to where I pulled over. I didn't even have to leave my car.
