Description:
The Yucatan Jay is in the crow family (Corvidae) and is endemic to the Yucatan, northern Belize & northern Guatemala. Like their crow cousins, these birds are regarded as highly evolved & intelligent birds. They are cooperative breeders with younger birds helping to raise the chicks. They are omnivores and adapt their diet to what plants & animals are available by season.
Habitat:
Southern Mexico, Belize & Guatemala. Deciduous forests.
