Field Notes

Description:

This is the largest tree squirrel in North America. They have tan/gold faces and ears with that coloration extending along their bellies and onto the legs and feet and along the underside of the tail. Above they are a grizzled gray.

Habitat:

Open deciduous forest with little understory, preferably with agricultural areas nearby. City parks and suburban yards with mature trees.
