Maybe because we rarely encounter them, Mayra. As I know, it's an endangered species. you can read martinI's comment for more information about this species. this far, I have only found few researches about Duliticola sp. All of them is done on Singapore. Surely Indonesian researchers have a lot of task to do about this species since our tropical forest that contains Duliticolas are threatened by deforestation.
bagus sekali...love it!
This what you've told me about. Amazing! Luar Biasa!
zhabiz, this is real species, called trilobite beetle :D martinl, thank you very much for the information :D For me, this species is an evidence that nature still keeps a lot of mystery to discover. By the way, do you know where I can get more information about this species?
The trilobite beetle is a type of firefly beetle. In some groups the females are mature at the larval stage and miss their transformation at metamorphasis. Like bagworms (moths) and tussock moths and scale insects (hemiptera - that do not technically metmorphasize anyway) the females remain wingless throughout life and look odd. This is not a trilobite at all but a modern, bizarre wingless beetle. Excellent spotting!
looks real prehistoric...like a living fossil
Wow! Is this an alien insect from a sci fi movie or what?!
Yeah, its segmented shields is very unique. I've never seen this before
