Field Notes

Description:

Ground-creeping herb with feathery, dark-green leaves and red/maroon stems. Leaves are generally an inch or two long and narrow. Flowers are bright-pink puffs similar to a dandelion's seed puff.

Notable for its reaction to touch. In response to being touched, the leaf bodies fold in half laterally, making the plant seem withered or much smaller.

Habitat:

Tropical and subtropical areas, found growing amidst grasses, and very visible against periodically-tended, low-cut grasses.

Notes:

Notable for its reaction to touch. I response to being touched, the leave bodies fold up laterally, in half, making the plant seem withered or much smaller.
