Field Notes
Description:
It mainly forages in trees, licking up insects and caterpillars with its sticky tongue. Both sexes excavate the nest, both incubate the eggs for about 13 days, and both care for the chicks, which leave the nest after about 22-25 days. They become fully independent a few weeks after fledging.
Habitat:
It is found in sub-Saharan Africa, preferring wooded forests, Miombo and Mopane woodlands.
