Description:

nearly 20cm (8") tall, white stem,brown cap

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

I spotted just one of these stinkhorns during a 4 day trek near the Myanmar border. I think we were lucky to see any kind of fungi or flowers because it was 'winter' and not the active time for most organisms in the area,even though it is tropical.

yes it very much looks like the "phallus impudicus". btw the second picture doesn't show!
So it's still possibly P. impudicus? It did not smell much and I did not see any flies around, but I didn't see many flies around anywhere. Insects were sparse due to the time of year.
I agree with you Dan, though it has been reported less from that region, it looks like p. impudicus. Though it is very lean, the description matches exactly! Just eager to know, did you see any flies around there?!
