Notes:

I actually caught this hawk after a call from a friend who found it. It couldn't fly far, he thought that it was injured and was going to shoot it as in the condition he found it, it wouldn't have made it through the night. He thought to call me instead to see if I could do anything. After a wet, muddy chase, I caught it in a bedsheet and took it in a dog crate to a (luckily) nearby wildlife rescue center. Turns out it was severely malnourished and will be released in March.

Beautiful bird and great story! This bird is lucky your friend thought to call you! However, I don't think this is a Swainson's Hawk. This looks like a dark morph juvenile Red-tailed Hawk to me! In December most if not all Swainson's hawks would have migrated South. Plus the markings on this bird are more in line with red-tailed hawk markings! Stunning bird!
Beautiful bird!!!
Great photo and a great story as well. Nice work!
There is suitable Mission Wildlife rescue & rehabilitation as KarenL had suggested, http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/9974629
Great spot & heartwarming story. The wildlife rehabbers do a wonderful job! This would be a great spot to add to the Wildlife Rescue mission - http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/9974629
Lucky hawk to have you looking out for him.
They waited until this week to release it.
Beautiful series and great to hear it can be released!
