Field Notes

Description:

small, black, rough texture, about 5cm (2") tall, reminds me of dead man's fingers I saw in Canada

Habitat:

dead log, temperate forest

Notes:

One of the many species of fungi I saw during a 10 day stay at Foping Reserve. Even though the end of November is not the season, there were still plenty of fungi in the reserve, if I looked hard enough.

So, from now onwards, you little black fungus will be called Dead Man's Fingers :)
Thanks for the comments and Clive for the ID. I will go with Dead Man's Finger's since we both thought that and you seem to really know you fungi. You have an amazing collection!
