Description:

Red fungus like cluster of berries with stem. Stands approximately 1 foot from forest floor & when grows larger, lays on ground.

Interesting ! Do you have photos of any other part of the plant, Mary ? It could be the berries of an Arum Lily like this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum
