Thank you for all the great information about Squirrels, Sanjay. How do you know so much about them?
When a squirrel is alarmed, it flicks its tail; when it's feeling aggressive, it fluffs it up. During its breeding season, a squirrel will wave and shiver its tail while approaching the opposite sex.

And yes, as you might imagine, a squirrel will also use its big, fuzzy tail to keep itself warm and toasty--it'll wrap its tail around itself like a built-in security blanket during wintertime. A squirrel will also use it to cool off during the summer. In hot weather, the tail becomes a sunshade for the squirrel and helps protects it from the sun's burning rays. Now that's one cool customer!

Alice, Is that what they're doing when they hold their tail that way? I don't think it was because of my attention. He was like that when I walked to the window and I was inside when I took the photo. I have quite a few other squirrels that hang out in the mornings looking for a birdseed hand out. Must have been one of the other squirrels he was hiding from or just waiting for his chance for the food.
I would say he is trying to camaflouge himself with his tail, he is a bit jittery with all the attention.
