Description:

A smile on wings! Brand-spanking new monarch butterfly on a potted coontie plant right in front of the science center's door.

Habitat:

Downtown Ocala! We have several milkweed plants we have placed in our back garden. Just goes to show..."if you plant it, they will come"!

Notes:

A Very Memorable Spotting; A truck pulled in first thing in the morning with voting booth and various items for the following day's primaries. Unloaded by rather unsmiling prisoners on work-release, I suppose. Just as I opened the door for one of the men, I saw that monarch, and involuntarily gasped and said "oh wow!" He looked at me, and said "What is it?" I said "come and see... it's a brand new monarch, just emerged!" He came straight over, and was absolutely amazed. His eyes got SOOOO big, his mouth hung open, and he whispered.. "oh maaannn.... that is soooo coooooool!" He stood up... smiling now.

Love when that happens. :) :) :)

(Now I'm smiling again!)
