Magnolia Green Jumping Spider
Lyssomanes viridis
25.6117, -80.4021
Field Notes
Description:
A large and atypical jumping spider with impeccable camouflage. It is typically easier to spot the shadow or outline these spiders create on the underside of leaves than it is to spot the spiders themselves. This individual is a female, as it lacks the massive chelicerae of the males.
Habitat:
I usually find them on Schefflera leaves or other shrubs in semi developed areas.
Notes:
One of the coolest jumpers out there, with some pretty unique species within the genus. Most are old-world.
