Field Notes

Description:

This lizard is usually gray or tan patterned with a stripe running down the back. The males have blue patches on the underside.

Habitat:

Arid grasslands to deserts.

Notes:

I found this lizard along the side of a small parking lot along the main entrance road to the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. Several happy hours were spent watching these lizards as they scampered around on a series of logs along the side of the parking lot.
